People are attracted to agility for a wide variety of reasons. Some simply want to spend more "quality time" with their dog(s); doing something which is fun, while others enjoy taking part in agility shows. The only thing that is more fun than watching dogs do agility is doing it with your own dog! Thats why we are here; we can help you and your dog enjoy agility in a safe and controlled environment.

ROSELAND DTC WELCOMES ALL BREEDS OF DOGS, whatever the shape or size, as long as they are fit, healthy and have a sound temperament, we are happy to help you train your dog. You can always have a word with your vet if you are in any doubt about your dogs' fitness.

To join this class, dogs must have basic obiedience training (sit, stay, come). Dogs work off lead very early on in their training and must respond to the Handlers commands. If you and your dog need help in this area, Roseland have a trainer available for you. We will carry out a temperament and suitability assessment on your dog before she/he is allowed to join the class.
The aim of the Beginner Class is to introduce the dog to each obstacle, and teach it to perform the obstacle stafely. At no time will your dog be put under pressure to negotiate any obstacle. Our training methods are based on fun and rewarding dogs with toys and tit bits.

Once the Handler and dog are happy with all the equipment they are ready to join the Novice Class, and this is where the fun really begins.

The Novice Class follows on from the Beginners Class, and aims to boost the dogs' confidence by doing excercises that are simple and fun for both the handler and the dog.

The Novice Class concentrates on providing the dogs with plenty of practice in negotiating obstacles, to enable the dog to gain confidence. The Novice Class also focuses on handling techniques for the 2-legged half of the team.

A dog and handler may remian working in the Novice Class indefinately if they wish, or they may move to the Competition Class if the dog and handler wish to compete.

Competition Class
Dogs must work in the Novice Class before they move into this class. However, some exceptions may be made for dogs coming into training from other Agility Clubs. Each dog and handler team will be assessed individually to dtermine which class would be best for them.

This Class is designed to take your agility training to another level, and will on occasions include training sessions from some of the country's top agility trainers.

Please call Clive Hildersley on 01208 831349 if you want to find out more about our training classes.
